Weekly Project Update – October 29, 2021
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On October 21 and 22 of 2021, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.9 and 142.1 was shifted to a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open with the exception of right lane, but lane widths have been reduced.
On October 7, 2021, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 141.0 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
On or about November 2, 2021, restriping of the existing three lanes at structures 141.7 NB and 141.9 NB will be performed. This work will be completed in the single night shift and will require two lane closures on Garden State Parkway Northbound from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On April 6, 2021, removal of existing timber shielding and installation of new timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge began. This operation is temporarily on hold until January 2022.
On or about January 2, 2022, installation of utility supports and conduits for PSE&G and Verizon lines will begin. This work will require periodic single lane to three lane closures on either the Northbound or Southbound Garden State Parkway from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
On May 10, 2021, substructure repairs at the South abutment of Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout the month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22EB from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
On June 23, 2021, bearing replacement along North abutment of Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout the month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22EB from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Removal of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge within Stage 1 will continue throughout month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22 EB from 8PM to 5AM.
Demolition of the bridge deck in the work zone in the Southbound direction at Structure 141.3 was completed on October 25, 2021.
On or about November 8, 2021, abrasive blasting (surface preparation) and application of zinc primer on structural members at Structure 141.3 SB will begin. This work will not require lane closures.
On October 27, 2021, milling of asphalt pavement over Structure 141.3 in the Northbound direction was completed.
On October 28, 2021, demolition of the bridge deck in the work zone in the Northbound direction at Structure 141.3 began and will be completed by November 2, 2021.
On or about November 1, 2021, installation of new diaphragms and bolsters at Structure 141.3 SB will begin. This work will not require lane closures.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
On June 30, 2021, bearing replacement at Structure 141.7 began and will continue throughout the month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 82WB from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Removal of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge within Stage 1 will continue throughout month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 82 EB and WB from 7AM to 3PM.
On October 28, 2021, hydro demolition of the bridge deck in the work zone in the Southbound direction at Structure 141.7 was completed.
On October 27, 2021, milling of asphalt pavement over Structure 141.7 in the Northbound direction was completed.
On or about October 29, 2021, demolition of the bridge deck in the work zone in the Northbound direction at Structure 141.7 will begin.
On or about November 3, 2021, installation of steel reinforcement for bridge deck at Structure 141.7 SB will begin.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
Removal of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge within Stage 1 will continue throughout month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22 WB from 8PM to 5AM.
On October 22, 2021, demolition of the bridge deck in the work zone in the Southbound direction at Structure 141.9 was completed.
On October 27, 2021, milling of asphalt pavement over Structure 141.9 in the Northbound direction was completed.
On or about October 29, 2021, demolition of the bridge deck in the work zone in the Northbound direction at Structure 141.9 will begin.
On or about November 2, 2021, bearing replacement along the South abutment of Structure 141.9 will resume and will continue throughout the month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22WB from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
