Weekly Project Update – November 19, 2021
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On October 21 and 22 of 2021, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.9 and 142.1 was shifted to a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open with the exception of the right lane, but lane widths have been reduced.
On October 7, 2021, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 141.0 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On April 6, 2021, removal of existing timber shielding and installation of new timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge began. This operation is temporarily on hold until January 2022.
On or about January 2, 2022, installation of utility supports and conduits for PSE&G and Verizon lines will begin. This work will require periodic single lane to three lane closures on either the Northbound or Southbound Garden State Parkway from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
On May 10, 2021, substructure repairs at the South abutment of Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout the month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22EB from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
On June 23, 2021, bearing replacement along the North abutment of Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout the month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22EB from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
Removal of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge within Stage 1 will continue throughout the month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22 EB from 8PM to 5AM.
On November 13, 2021, installation of expansion joints at Structure 141.3 SB began and will be completed on November 24, 2021.
On or about November 22, 2021, installation of beam bolsters at Structure 141.3 NB will begin.
Abrasive blasting (surface preparation) and application of zinc primer on structural members at Structure 141.3 SB was completed on November 18, 2021.
On or about November 23, 2021, installation of stay in place forms for the bridge deck at Structure 141.3 SB will begin. This work will not require lane closures.
On or about November 26, 2021, installation of steel reinforcement for the bridge deck at Structure 141.3 SB will begin.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
On June 30, 2021, bearing replacement at Structure 141.7 began and will continue throughout the month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 82WB from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Removal of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge within Stage 1 will continue throughout month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 82 EB and WB from 7AM to 3PM.
On or about November 22, 2021, abrasive blasting (surface preparation) and application of zinc primer on top flanges of structural members at Structure 141.7 NB will begin.
On or about November 29, 2021, installation of stay in place forms for the bridge deck at Structure 141.7 NB will begin. This work will not require lane closures.
On or about December 2, 2021, installation of steel reinforcement for the bridge deck at Structure 141.7 NB will begin.
Installation of steel reinforcement for the bridge deck at Structure 141.7 SB was completed on November 18, 2021.
On or about November 29, 2021, concrete placement for bridge deck at Structure 141.7 SB will begin. This work will require Right Lane closure on the GSP Southbound Roadway.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
Removal of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge within Stage 1 will continue throughout month of November 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22 WB from 8PM to 5AM.
Demolition of the bridge deck in the work zone in the Northbound direction at Structure 141.9 was completed on November 17, 2021.
Installation of stay in place forms for the bridge deck at Structure 141.9SB was completed on November 16, 2021.
Bearing replacement for Stage 2 along the South abutment of Structure 141.9 was completed on November 19, 2021.
On or about November 22, 2021, installation of steel reinforcement for the bridge deck at Structure 141.9SB will begin.
On or about November 29, 2021, concrete placement for bridge deck at Structure 141.9 SB will begin. This work will require Right Lane closure of GSP Southbound Roadway.
On or about December 1, 2021, installation of stay in place forms for the bridge deck at Structure 141.9NB will begin. This work will not require lane closures.
On or about December 4, 2021, installation of steel reinforcement for the bridge deck at Structure 141.9NB will begin.
