Weekly Project Update – January 22, 2021
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On November 14, 2020, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.9 and 142.1 was shifted to the left in a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
On November 21, 2020, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 141.0 and 142.2 was shifted to the left in a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
On January 11 and 12 of 2021, pothole repair work within project limits on the Northbound and Southbound Roadways was performed.
On or about February 1, 2021, installation of anchor pins and parging joints on precast concrete construction barrier at Structures 141.3, 141.7 and 141.9 along Northbound and Southbound Roadways will begin. This work will require periodic single or double lane closures on the Garden State Parkway.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On or about February 1, 2021, installation of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge will begin. This work will require periodic single or double lane closures on the Garden State Parkway.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
On December 15, 2020, demolition of the parapet and bridge deck in the work zone in the Southbound direction at Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout the month of January. This work will not require lane closures on Route 22 EB.
On December 23, 2020, demolition of the parapet and bridge deck in the work zone in the Northbound direction at Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout the month of January. Periodic single lane closures on Route 22 EB from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM may be required during demolition of cap slab and concrete diaphragms at the South Abutment.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
On January 20, 2021, Installation of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge was completed.
On January 16, 2021, demolition of the parapet and bridge deck in the work zone in the Northbound direction at Structure 141.7 began and will continue until January 26, 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 82 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
On or about January 26, 2021, demolition of the parapet and bridge deck in the work zone in the Southbound direction at Structure 141.7 will begin. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 82 from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
On or about January 28, 2021, installation of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge will resume. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22 WB from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM.
On or about January 25, 2021, demolition of the parapet and bridge deck in the work zone in the Northbound and Southbound directions at Structure 141.9 will begin. This work will not require lane closures on Route 22 WB.
