Weekly Project Update – May 13, 2021
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On November 14, 2020, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.9 and 142.1 was shifted to the left in a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
On November 21, 2020, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 141.0 and 142.2 was shifted to the left in a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On April 6, 2021, removal of existing timber shielding and installation of new timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge began and will continue throughout the month of May 2021. This work will require periodic single lane to three lane closures on either the Northbound or Southbound Garden State Parkway from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
On May 11, 2021, survey of existing structure (bearing measurements) was completed.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
On May 3, 2021, installation of the jacks for structural jacking to replace bearings at the South abutment of Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout the month of May 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22EB from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
On May 10, 2021, substructure repairs at the South abutment of Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout the month of May 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22EB from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
On April 26, 2021, installation of steel bolsters and end diaphragms in Stage 1 at Structure 141.3 began and will continue throughout month of May 2021. This work will not require lane closures.
On or about May 24, 2021, installation of the stay in place forms will begin and will continue until May 28, 2021. This work will not require lane closures.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
Installation of steel reinforcement for the bridge deck in Stage 1 at Structure 141.7 in the Northbound and Southbound directions was completed on April 23, 2021.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
Installation of the temporary supports and jacks for structural jacking for Stage 1 at the South abutment of Structure 141.9 was completed on May 13, 2021. Upon completion of all work at the South abutment, the contractor will begin installation of the temporary supports and jacks for structural jacking for Stage 1 at the North abutment of Structure 141.9 and will continue throughout the month of May 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22WB from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Substructure repairs and bearing pad reconstruction for Stage 1 at the South abutment of Structure 141.9 was completed on May 13, 2021. Upon completion of all work at the South abutment, the contractor will begin substructure repairs and bearing pad reconstruction for Stage 1 at the North abutment of Structure 141.9 and will continue throughout the month of May 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22WB from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
