Weekly Project Update – October 13, 2023

The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:

Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143

On September 9, 2022, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Southbound Roadway near MP 138.4. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.

On October 10, 2023, removal of MPT and shifting traffic back to the original configuration on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was completed. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Northbound Roadway near MP 139.3. This work was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.

On October 10, 2023, paving of the mainline roadway on the Northbound Roadway of the Garden State Parkway began. This work will be performed under temporary nightly lane closures and will be completed by approximately October 27, 2023.

On or about October 27, 2023, removal of MPT and shifting traffic back to original configuration on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 will begin. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages will be deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Southbound Roadway near MP 138.4. This work will be performed under temporary nightly lane closures and will be completed by approximately October 28, 2023.

On or about October 30, 2023, paving of the mainline roadway on the Southbound Garden State Parkway will begin. This work will be performed under temporary nightly lane closures.

Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road

On November 9, 2022, traffic on Galloping Hill Road was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 1A). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.

Construction of a temporary sidewalk along the south side of the structure was completed on October 13, 2023.

On or about October 16, 2023, traffic on Galloping Hill Road will be shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 2). All existing travel lanes will remain open, but lane widths will be reduced.

Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB

No activities scheduled at this location at this time.

Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)

On August 10, 2023, bearing replacement (anchor bolts) on the North and South abutments in Stage 5 at Structure 141.7 resumed. This operation will continue until approximately October 16, 2023.

Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB

On October 13, 2023, repainting of structural steel at Structure 141.9 was completed.
