Weekly Project Update – November 18, 2022
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On September 9, 2022, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Southbound Roadway near MP 138.4. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On September 30, 2022, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Northbound Roadway near MP 139.3. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On October 3, 2022, demolition of existing median barrier in stages 5, 6, and 7 began and will continue until approximately November 30, 2022. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Garden State Parkway in the Northbound or Southbound directions from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On November 9, 2022, traffic on Galloping Hill Road was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 1A). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
On November 14, 2022, construction activities in Stage 1A at Galloping Hill Road began. This operation will continue until approximately December 30, 2022. This work will require periodic single lane closures on Galloping Hill Road from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
On November 15, 2022, installation of temporary lighting on the bridge at Galloping Hill Road began. This operation will continue until approximately November 23, 2022. This work will require periodic single lane closures on Galloping Hill Road from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
On October 27, 2022, installation of beam bolsters for Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (NB/SB) began and will continue until approximately November 21, 2022.
On November 7, 2022, bearing replacement for Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (NB/SB) began. This operation will continue until approximately December 2, 2022.
Installation of end diaphragms for Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (NB/SB) was completed on November 17, 2022.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
On or about November 21, 2022, installation of steel reinforcement for bridge deck at Structure 141.7 SB will begin and will continue until approximately November 23, 2022.
On or about November 23, 2022, concrete placement for bridge deck at Structure 141.7 SB will begin. This operation will be completed in single work shift..
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
On October 6, 2022, removal of asphalt overlay and demolition of existing bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 (GSP NB) began. This operation will continue until approximately December 2, 2022.
On October 24, 2022, bearing replacement and bearing area reconstruction for Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 (NB/SB) began and will continue until approximately December 2, 2022.
On or about November 21 2022, installation of intermediate diaphragms for Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 (NB/SB) will begin.
