Weekly Project Update – March 24, 2023
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On September 9, 2022, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Southbound Roadway near MP 138.4. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On September 30, 2022, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Northbound Roadway near MP 139.3. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On November 16, 2022, reconstruction of existing inlets along the median barrier began. This operation will continue until approximately March 31, 2023.
On January 16, 2023, construction of foundations for median barrier in Stages 6 and 7 along NB and SB Roadways began. This operation will continue until approximately March 31, 2023.
On March 23, 2023, installation of steel reinforcement for median barrier in Stages 6 and 7 along NB and SB Roadways began. This operation will continue until approximately April 30, 2023.
Demolition of existing median barrier in stages 5, 6, and 7 was completed on March 24, 2023, with the exception of 100 LF North of Structure 140.2 which will be done at a later date.
Installation of steel reinforcement for median barrier in Stage 5 along NB and SB Roadways was completed on March 24, 2023.
On or about April 3, 2023, concrete placement for median barrier in Stage 5 along NB and SB Roadways will begin. This operation will continue until approximately April 14, 2023.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On November 9, 2022, traffic on Galloping Hill Road was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 1A). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
On March 20, 2023, installation of end diaphragms in Stage 1 A began. This operation will continue until approximately March 31, 2023. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Garden State Parkway in the Northbound or Southbound directions from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
On or about March 31, 2023, installation of stay in place forms and shear connectors in Stage 1A will begin. This work will not require lane closures.
On or about April 4, 2023, installation of steel reinforcement for bridge deck in Stage 1 A will begin. This work will not require lane closures.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
On December 8, 2022, bearing replacement for Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (NB/SB) began. This operation will continue until approximately March 31, 2023.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
No work is scheduled at this location.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
On February 23, 2023, installation of steel reinforcement for bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 NB began. This operation will continue until approximately March 29, 2023.
On or about March 24, 2023, concrete placement for bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 NB will begin.
