Weekly Project Update – September 23, 2022
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On July 7, 2022, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.9 and 142.1 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 4). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Northbound Roadway near MP 139.3. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On July 11, 2022, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.2 and 140.5 was shifted to a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Northbound Roadway near MP 139.0. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On September 9, 2022, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Southbound Roadway near MP 138.4. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On or about September 29, 2022, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 will be shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes will remain open, but lane widths will be reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages will be deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Northbound Roadway near MP 139.3. The installation of the new traffic pattern will be performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On or about September 27, 2022, MPT devices utilized for the traffic shift under Structure 140.2 will be removed. This work will require right lane closure on the Southbound Garden State Parkway Roadway from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
On or about September 29, 2022, installation of junction boxes and duct bank will resume. This work will require periodic single lane closures on Galloping Hill Road from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
On September 19, 2022, demolition of existing bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (GSP SB) began. This operation will continue until approximately October 7, 2022.
On September 27, 2022, paving of approaches to bridge deck at Structure 141.3 (GSP NB) will begin. This operation will be completed in the single shift.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
On September 12, 2022, bearing replacement in Stage 5 at Structure 141.7 began. This operation will continue until approximately September 23, 2022. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 82 EB/WB from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
On September 15, 2022, removal of asphalt overlay over existing bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.7 (GSP SB) began.
On September 15, 2022, concrete placement for bridge deck in Stage 4 at Structure 141.7 (GSP NB) began. This work will require a single lane closure on the Northbound Garden State Parkway from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This operation will be completed in the single night shift.
On or about September 21, 2022, installation of steel reinforcement for headblocks in Stage 4 at Structure 141.7 (GSP NB) will begin.
On or about September 22, 2022, concrete placement for headblocks in Stage 4 at Structure 141.7 (GSP NB) will begin.
On or about September 26, 2022, paving of approaches to bridge deck at Structure 141.7 (GSP NB) will begin. This operation will be completed in the single shift.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
On September 19, 2022, demolition of existing bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 (GSP SB) began. This operation will continue until approximately October 7, 2022.
Installation of steel reinforcement for headblocks in Stage 4 at Structure 141.9 (GSP NB) was completed on September 21, 2022.
