Weekly Project Update – March 26, 2021
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On November 14, 2020, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.9 and 142.1 was shifted to the left in a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
On November 21, 2020, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 141.0 and 142.2 was shifted to the left in a new traffic pattern. All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
During NJTA Holiday Restrictions, no lane closings will be scheduled.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On or about April 6, 2021, installation of timber shielding and other temporary support structures under the bridge will begin and will continue throughout the month of April 2021. This work will require periodic single lane to three lane closures on either the Northbound or Southbound Garden State Parkway from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. During NJTA Holiday Restrictions, no lane closings will be scheduled
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
On December 15, 2020, demolition of the parapet and bridge deck in the work zone in the Southbound direction at Structure 141.3 began and will be completed on April 2, 2021. Periodic single lane closures on Route 22 EB from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM may be required during demolition of bridge deck and concrete diaphragms at the South Abutment. During NJDOT Holiday Restrictions, no lane closings will be scheduled.
Abrasive blasting (surface preparation) and application of zinc primer on structural members at Structure 141.3 NB was completed on March 23, 2021.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
On or about March 29, 2021, installation of steel reinforcement for the bridge deck in Stage 1 at Structure 141.7 in the Northbound and Southbound directions will begin. This work will not require lane closures.
On or about March 29, 2021, installation of electrical conduit for new underbridge lighting and installation of underbridge temporary lighting will continue. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 82 WB from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. During NJDOT Holiday Restrictions, no lane closings will be scheduled.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
Demolition of the parapet and bridge deck in the work zone in the Northbound and Southbound directions at Structure 141.9 was completed on March 24, 2021.
On March 22, 2021, installation of the temporary supports and jacks for structural jacking at the South abutment of Structure 141.9 NB began and will continue until April 2, 2021. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Route 22WB from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. During NJDOT Holiday Restrictions, no lane closings will be scheduled.
