Weekly Project Update – May 24, 2024
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On October 19, 2023, micro-milling on bridge decks at Structures 141.3 NB, 141.7 NB, and 141.9 NB began. This work resumed May 1, 2024, and will be completed by approximately May 31, 2024. This work will require temporary lane closures during the night shift along the GSP.
On May 9, 2024, sawcut grooving of bridge decks at Structures 141.3NB and SB, 141.7SB, and 141.9SB began. This work will be completed by approximately May 31, 2024. Deck joint installation at Structures 141.0 and 141.2 will be ongoing in the NB and SB direction into the first week of June. This work will require temporary lane closures during the night shift along the GSP NB/SB.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
On January 11, 2024, traffic on Galloping Hill Road was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 3). All existing travel lanes will remain open, but lane widths have been reduced.
On April 29, 2024, removal of the timber shielding and other temporary supports under the bridge began. This work will require temporary lane closures during the night shift along the GSP NB/SB. This work will be completed by approximately June 7, 2024.
On May 13, 2024, construction of parapet in Stage 3 began. This work will be completed by approximately May 31, 2024.
On May 20, 2024, bridge approach work in Stage 3 began. This work will be completed by approximately May 27, 2024.
On or about May 28, 2024, installation of bridge fence on the North parapet will begin. This work will be completed by approximately June 7, 2024.
On or about June 7, 2024, traffic on Galloping Hill Road will be shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 4). All existing travel lanes will remain open, but lane widths will be reduced.
On or about June 15, 2024, cleaning and painting of structural steel will begin. This work will require temporary lane closures during the night shift along the GSP NB/SB. This work will be completed by approximately July 15 2024.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB

Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
No work is scheduled at this location.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
