Weekly Project Update – October 28, 2022
The following work is scheduled over the next three weeks:
Garden State Parkway Mileposts 140 to 143
On September 9, 2022, traffic on the Southbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Southbound Roadway near MP 138.4. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On September 30, 2022, traffic on the Northbound Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140.1 and 142.2 was shifted to a new traffic pattern (Stage 5, 6, and 7). All existing travel lanes remain open, but lane widths have been reduced. Portable VMS boards with advanced warning messages were deployed six days prior to the traffic shift on the Northbound Roadway near MP 139.3. The installation of the new traffic pattern was performed under temporary nightly lane closures.
On October 3, 2022, demolition of existing median barrier in stages 5, 6, and 7 began and will continue until approximately October 31, 2022. This work may require periodic single lane closures on Garden State Parkway in the Northbound or Southbound directions from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
Bridge No. 140.2, GSP under Galloping Hill Road
Removal of existing sidewalk along North side of the bridge was completed on October 27, 2022.
On or about October 31, 2022, Installation of duct bank and conduit for Verizon lines will begin. This operation will continue until approximately November 4, 2022. This work will require periodic single lane closures on Galloping Hill Road from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Bridge No. 141.3, GSP over Route 22 EB
Removal of asphalt overlay and demolition of existing bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (GSP NB/SB) was completed on October 26, 2022.
On October 27, 2022, installation of end diaphragms for Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (NB/SB) began and will continue until approximately November 11, 2022.
On October 27, 2022, installation of beam bolsters for Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (NB/SB) began and will continue until approximately November 11, 2022.
On or about October 31, 2022, bearing replacement for Stage 5 at Structure 141.3 (NB/SB) will begin. This operation will continue until approximately November 11, 2022.
Bridge No. 141.7, GSP over Morris Avenue (Route 82)
On or about October 31, 2022, hydro-demolition of existing bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.7 (GSP NB/SB) will begin. This operation will continue until approximately November 11, 2022. This work will not require lane closures.
Bridge No. 141.9, GSP over Route 22 WB
On October 6, 2022, removal of asphalt overlay and demolition of existing bridge deck in Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 (GSP NB) began. This operation will continue until approximately November 8, 2022.
On October 24, 2022, bearing replacement and bearing area reconstruction for Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 (NB/SB) began and will continue until approximately November 4, 2022.
On or about November 2, 2022, installation of beam S8 for Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 (NB/SB) will begin.
On or about November 2, 2022, installation of intermediate diaphragms for Stage 5 at Structure 141.9 (NB/SB) will begin.
