NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN: MARCH 2022
Construction will occur on the Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140 and 143 starting on March 29, 2022 at 10 PM, and lasting for approximately 3 months until June 2022. Over this period, the following construction and changes in traffic patterns will occur:
Northbound traffic lanes will be split with shifted 2 lanes to the left and 3 lanes shifted to the right beginning at Chestnut St
The lanes will be of reduced width
It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate during peak travel periods until motorist become accustomed and adjust to the new traffic pattern.
Variable message signs to alert motorists of the construction will be placed along the Northbound and Southbound Roadway one week in advance of the planned construction start date.
Motorists can call 511 from any phone from a hands-free device (Listen for the initial voice prompt and ask for traffic conditions. Motorists can ask for a specific Highway, City, or even a point of interest). Description of New Traffic Pattern: Construction will occur on the Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140 and 143 starting on March 29, 2022, and lasting for approximately 3 months until June 2022. Over this period, the following construction and changes in traffic patterns will occur:
All Northbound traffic lanes will be split 3 lanes right and 2 lanes left beginning at Chestnut St
The number of lanes will be reduced from 5 to 4 at Morris Ave.
Lanes will be of reduced width
Proposed Start Date of New Traffic Pattern: The new traffic pattern will begin on March 31, 2022 and continue through June 2022.
Anticipated Traffic Impacts: It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate during peak travel periods until motorist become accustomed and adjust to the new traffic pattern.
Other Comments: NJTA will advise motorists by Overhead Variable Message Signs approaching the construction area. Coordination with Union County and NJDOT is ongoing.
