NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN: OCTOBER 2021

Construction will occur on the Garden State Parkway between mileposts 140 and 143 starting on October 7, 2021 at 5:00AM, and lasting for approximately 2 months until December 2021.

Over this period, the following construction and changes in traffic patterns will occur:

  • Northbound traffic lanes will be 3 through lanes to the left and 1 lane for exit to the right beginning at Interchange 139A Chestnut St.

  • Southbound traffic lanes will be split with shifted 3 lanes to the left and 1 lane shifted to the right beginning at Interchange 141 Vauxhall Rd.

  • The lanes will be of reduced width

It is anticipated that traffic impacts will be moderate during peak travel periods until motorist become accustomed and adjust to the new traffic pattern.

Variable message signs to alert motorists of the construction will be placed along the Northbound and Southbound Roadway one week in advance of the planned construction start date.

Additionally, on or about October 7, 2021 during implementation of the new traffic pattern, the Southbound Exit 140A ramp will be closed. A detour will be provided. Please see below for the detour route.
